The famous Disney Magic Kingdom attraction the Pirates of the Caribbean is scheduled to reopen tomorrow after being closed for scheduled maintenance for a few weeks.

This was the last attraction that Walt Disney actually helped design. Originally to be a wax museum of pirates throughout history it became the boat ride many of us remember. Opening in 1967 in Disneyland in California it was originally thought to be to ‘local’ for the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. However with many guests complaints about the favorite attraction it was added to the Magic Kingdom in 1973.

Not without controversy over some of its content the attraction has been the favorite of visitors over the years. It is about 8 1/2 minutes long and has 125 animatronic creatures within.

It’s a great piece of childhood that should be shared with every kid especially with the renewed interest with the ride was brought about by the movies starring Johnny Depp.

Since air travel is fast and safe there are many options to fly to Orlando. There are over 40 different airlines that can get you to that sunny destination. It’s also not as expensive as one might think. For example a single person can fly from New York to Orlando non stop for a bit over $200 round trip right now. With the option of driving becoming less palatable because of fuel costs this may be an option. Driving the same distance would cost you about $350 in gas alone (for a 25mpg) not to mention a whole day plus of driving.

There are two airports that are in or close to Orlando. Orlando International Airport is located along 528 and 436 carries about 100,000 passengers daily. Sanford International is about 18 miles north east of Orlando. Both offer a variety of airlines to choose from and the latest security measures and conviences to make your trip all the more comfortable.

Orlando International has a north and south side to its main terminal with 4 spokes that contain the gates. With close to 120 gates there Orlando International is a BUSY airport. When flying a departing flight from Orlando, check which side (Terminal A or B) to go to as it may be a BIG walk to get to your airline.

Orlando International has many restaurants ranging from the fine dining of Hemispheres to Fast Food and Coffee Shops. There are also many shops to browse while passing through the airport. Bookstores, gift shops, clothing and jewelry stores. There is also a spa, shoe shiner located in the terminal. Fedex, UPS drop boxes are around the terminal. ATM, Currency exchange and a bank are there for your financial transactions.

Orlando Sanford International airport is a little servicing almost 5000 passengers daily but still with state-of-the-art facilities. It may be smaller and have a shorter list of airlines. It may be an option to use this as an alternative as fares may be less expensive.

Flying to Orlando may be a great way to start off your vacation! Between the prices and convenience take a look and see how flying to your vacation destination may be the best decision you make!

For more information about the airports check out their websites
