Who runs Orlando?

Orlando is run by a mayor and 6 district commissioners.  Each are elected for 4 year terms.  Mayor Buddy Dyer is the 32nd Mayor of Orlando.  He was elected in 2003 in a special election and in 2004 re-elected for a full 4 year term.  Under his leadership the government

  • Encouraged more than $3 billion in developement in the downtown area.
  • Added 75 additional police officers
  • Funded improvment projects such as :
    • Parramore Heritage Park and Pond
    • Dover Shores Community Center
    • Dubsdread Sewer Improvements
    • Lake Eola Park renovation
    • Primrose Building Improvements
  • Helped fund the Commuter Rail effort in the Central Florida Region

and many other accomplishments for the good of Orlando.  Helping him make the city what it is today are District Commissioners,  Phil Diamond,  Betty T Wyman,  Robert F Stuart, Patty Sheehan, Daisy W Lynumand Samuel B Ings.
